How To: Reset Mac Password Without Disc and Set a Firmware Password. A few weeks ago I was given a new temporary computer. The problem is this computer was password protected and no one knew the password. Luckily Google came to the rescue and I was able to reset the password without a disc. This was incredibly easy to do. So easy it was kind of scary so I added a firmware password to the computer to block others from changing the password again. Here is the process that I used, I hope it's helpful to some people. I have successfully tried it on OS X 10.8 & 10.9. I did notice however that on 10.9 the Keychain Access password was not changed which could cause issues, but in the end I was able to login and do what I needed to do.
Sorry about the bad video quality, I shot this quickly on my phone.
